Papillon (2013 Version)

So I'm back to redrawing things. Actually, I've had this done for a while, but didn't upload it, well, until now. At least I bothered to get my lazy ass to the computer. This, despite being a redrawing, is a very different piece from the original, though I kept every item except for the background. It might be the fact I was colouring on a computer monitor that doesn't desaturate everything, or it could be how things are repositioned, or even just how she is looking at the viewer this time, but the whole feels very different. Also, if anything, I think it was a good choice to change the background. It looks kinda painter-y, but the black bars that the drawing overlaps makes it more contemporary. Also the red has been limited to her hair and little flying friend, which does highlight those parts much more than having red velvet curtains everywhere. Oh, and I added what is supposed to be rosemary plants to the bundle of flowers, which was originally just roses.

Honestly, I didn't like the original piece too much. I had this idea that I still really like, but the final item just isn't what I wanted. This is much better.
I never get tired of drawing this character either. Her name's Rosemary, by the way. From the fiery red hairstyle and soft powder blue eyes, I think she really is one of my favorite designs, and most expressive and vibrant character. From the start, there was a truckload of thought in the items and symbols I placed in the old drawing, but I want to know what you guys think! Or even what kind of character you think this is.

Actually, I've started working on some comic pages. Hur hur!
We'll see how this works out, but for now, enjoy this redhead.
